Willoughby Road tells you most of what you need to know. Cafes, a bottle shop, a hairdresser and a charity shop line a strip short enough to walk end to end in a few minutes, and the cottages set back behind it date to well before Federation was even a word anyone used.

Council records date the earliest housing here to the 1880s, decades ahead of most of the suburbs around it. That head start matters more than the style of the roofline.

Willoughby is home turf, and this village is close enough that it's part of the same weekly run, not a special trip.
